MCB Show Band Musical Director – Mel Prout
The MCB Show Band musical director, Mel Prout, has a varied and impressive musical background which has helped to shape the Show Band’s musical development. Upon joining the air force, Mel put his musical training to work with air force volunteer bands including the Six Repair Depot Band, (now the Eight Wing Band at CFB Trenton). He was the band master of the CFB Gimli, Manitoba Volunteer Band and more recently the musical direct of multiple air cadet squadron bands in the local area for over a 10-year period. Mel has also played in a variety of musical groups including trios, stage bands, Dixieland bands, marching bands, concert bands and pit bands as well as the Eastern Ontario Symphony Orchestra. Mel joined the Milton Concert Band in 2008 and is currently the president of its board of directors.
Featured Vocalist – Antonella Vizzini
Antonella is an accomplished vocal performer who has been singing to audiences for over 30 years. She sings in a variety of different genres such as pop, jazz and blues, and has embraced her Italian heritage and Latin roots singing in Italian and Spanish. She recently released her first album, My Italian Romance, consisting of her interpretation of some of Italy’s most beautiful love songs. With a voice that has been described as angelic, soulful and powerful, Antonella has engaged audiences across the GTA, performing at weddings, private functions, fundraisers and various outdoor festivals such as The Toronto Christmas Market and Mississauga’s Italfest. Whether it’s performing as a soloist, in a duo, or with bigger ensembles, such as the Milton Concert Band Show Band, Antonella creates a classy and soothing musical experience for all to enjoy.
The MCB Show Band has repertoire that appeals to a broad audience. Under musical director Mel Prout’s leadership, the group has evolved into a tight, harmonious ensemble with an ever-expanding repertoire, covering everything from jazz and blues, to classic rock and swing.
